Now it really doesn't
take too long, 15 mins tops, but I try to put it off for as long as I can.
I actually had a good
reason to wait, I got sick and literally could only lay or sit in bed. It has
been a little over a week now and I have the strength and energy to do the regular household chores.
I must say every time I
sweep, which is once a week, I am amazed at how much dirt I sweep up! Our house
of 4 live as clean as we can (usually!), but we go in and out all day and have
two lil doggies to contribute to those dirt piles!
How many times do we put
off sweeping our lives? There are things we can do weekly to keep us in check:
thinking over the company we keep and seeing if we need to "sweep" one
or more people out our house. Checking what we are allowing inside our temples:
eyes, ears and heart gates and seeing if we need to "sweep" some
things out.
Do you not know that your body is the temple (the
very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received
[as a Gift] from God? You are not your own, 1 Corinthians 6:19
Sometimes we can go
after tackling our cleaning with joy, excited to see the end result of a clean
house! Other times we neglect it for as long as we can, because it isn't comfortable. We might have to get
dirty or *shudders* think of what others will think of us for
"sweeping" house. At
the end of the day, when you have finally gotten your house clean, you are
proud of your work and what you have accomplished! You can relax because you
don't have that cleaning list on your mind, and find you have time to read a
book, spend time with the family or work on that project you've been saying you
would get around to!
Keep up what you are
cleaning!
15 So watch your step.
Use your head. 16 Make the most of every chance you get. These are desperate
times!
17 Don’t live
carelessly, unthinkingly. Make sure you understand what the Master wants.
Ephesians 5:15-17
Now this Bible verse has
been popping up everywhere I turn causing me to think upon it:
At the time, discipline
isn’t much fun. It always feels like it’s going against the grain. Later, of
course, it pays off handsomely, for it’s the well-trained who find themselves
mature in their relationship with God. Hebrews 12:11
disciplinenoun
2.activity, exercise, or a regimen that develops or improves a skill; training:A daily stint at the typewriter is excellent discipline for a writer.
We must exercise discipline; its part of our Christian walk and it brings us closer to our Father.
.
So sweep your house
weekly! Yes, sometimes it's not fun, no matter how loud you crank up the radio
and try to get yourself pumped up. Look forward to that freshly
swept house and know that your mind is cleared to hear what your Father longs
to tell you!
