I'm holding onto the promise!

Wow, August was a busy month for me and there were so many ways I was able to serve others. I was happy to go about doing my work, but was getting discouraged because I am waiting to go back to Rwanda, Africa.
The Lord called me to missions in the Summer of 2008 after I finished a mission trip to Reynosa, Mexico. Later that summer He told me Rwanda was the country I was called to. Fast forward and now I am 24 and the Lord opened the doors for me to go on a mission trip to Rwanda December 29-January 6, 2016. I had an awesome time and a taste of the life the Lord will have me lead. I was awed, excited and felt at home the whole time I was there. Ever since I got back home I have been waiting to see how the Lord will get me back there!
My suitcases are packed, my passport and important documents are together and my travel backpack is ready so when the time comes all I have to do is gather my bags and go!
Even though I have all this done by faith, and I pray for my country and the people the Lord will have me work with, it was August and I am still here in Texas! I haven't lost faith at all that I am going back to Rwanda. It is just hard waiting for this last bit, but everywhere I turned my Father was reassuring me that my promise is coming!

While babysitting and holding a napping baby I watched two of my favorite missionary movies: The Keys of the Kingdom (a novel) and The Inn of the Sixth Happiness- about the missionary Gladys Aylward. I was encouraged as I watched and saw the perseverance these two had even though trials came up in their path.

A lady I sit by in choir has been to Africa on a mission trip before and fell in love with it! When we talk on Wednesday nights she always says something that encourages me to keep looking forward to getting there.

The songs that came on the Christian radio station seemed to always be of holding onto the promises of God.

While babysitting two cute brothers we watched VeggieTales and it was on Abraham, one of the key testimonies people turn to in the Bible for a lesson on holding onto the promises of God. Genesis chapters 15-22

Now that it is September my heart has been steadied and I am holding on tighter than ever to what the Lord has promised me! On Sept 2 when I was watching those two cute brothers again and when we watched VeggieTales this was the verse of the episode: "For you have need of patient endurance [to bear up under difficult circumstances without compromising], so that when you have carried out the will of God, you may receive and enjoy to the full what is promised." Hebrews 10:36

As I keep going Abba Father keeps showing me He hasn't forgotten and He lifts me up! Are you waiting for a promise? During these eight years of waiting my bags were not always packed and ready and I wasn't doing all that the Lord asked of me. It was something I was waiting on but expecting God to do everything and I said I'd be ready when He got everything together. Is there something/somethings you need to do to ready yourself? Do it now! Yes the Lord can bring everything to you and all you have to do is jump into that promise, but a lot of times we need to walk in faith and prepare ourselves for what we are waiting for.

Go to your quiet place and see what needs to be done, whether it is going out and getting things ready or to continue staying close to the Father and wait a little longer. Hold onto your promise and rejoice when it comes. I know when I go home to Rwanda all the world will hear me yell from the rooftops!
