Oh my, look how much you've grown!

I was going through a box of my books when I came across a journal I got when I was 7 years old. I loved it so much because the lady who gave it to me was sweet, the journal was pretty and the pages have perfume on them. When I received it I thought it was so fancy! Whenever I see a girl in a movie or TV show talk about writing in her journal, I always laugh to myself because it seems like a super girly thing to do. As I looked through my box of books I found 8 journals! The earliest one was when I was 5 years old. :)

Keeping journals is a great way to see how you have grown and matured over the years, naturally and spiritually. I was excited to see how pumped I was for the Lord when I was 10! How every summer at church youth camp I came back home with a renewed passion for the Lord. There were a lot of lists I made of people I prayed over and their specific needs. In my journals I also wrote down things I was struggling with and prayers that I prayed to help me get through them.

Going back through my journals I am pleased to see that I have kept growing spiritually and I am deeper in my relationship with God than I have ever been!

As a young adult I have a journal where I record the lessons the Lord has taught me and the revelations He has revealed. It is a great way to look back and see all that God has done! When I am going through a difficult time I can get my journal out and get my faith restored.

If you aren't sure if you have grown in your walk with the Lord or you know you haven't been growing, dear one, don't give up! Start up a journal! Set a time in your day where its just you and God. It can be before you head out to work/school, at your lunch break, before you go to bed, etc. Write down each day what you have been praying for and what the Holy Spirit highlights to you when you read your Bible, etc. Another option is to get a daily devotional and use it as your journal, writing notes of what the Holy Spirit points out. Don't forget to write down the praises when something awesome happens! Looking back at your journal from time-to-time seeing how much you have grown will encourage you to continue going deeper in the Lord!
