My Thanksgiving was super blessed! I got to witness my cousin Carl get married and it was one of the most beautiful weddings I have been to! This cousin of mine had never came to the Lord and he told me that he had been single for 25 years! He hadn't planned on getting married but the Lord got to him and he married a beautiful godly woman; so I wasn't just excited about the marriage but also about their journey with the Lord together! My excitement for this wedding just bubbled up everywhere I went! With the biggest grin on my face, I would tell friends and people I met that I was going to a wedding on Thanksgiving Day! As I was washing dishes and still thinking over the wedding today I was reminded of what my youth pastor's wife told us at camp one year.
We had gone back to our building after evening service and we were talking about being God's. She told us someone shared this beautiful analogy with her: when you accept Jesus in your heart it is like getting engaged. When you get baptized it's like your wedding day and when you get filled with the Holy Spirit it is like your wedding night.
These words have stuck with me ever since I was 14 or so. This analogy is such a beautiful way to look our union with the Lord! There was such celebration and rejoicing for my cousin's wedding naturally and spiritually, amen!
When we get saved we should want to shout from the roof tops what God has done for us! I understand that it can be difficult for some depending on your culture, where you live or what your family believes. But know that choosing Jesus is the best thing you can do! When you turn to Him you have God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit and you have instantly gained a huge family of siblings in Christ - of fellow believers!
19-22 That’s plain enough, isn’t it? You’re no longer wandering exiles. This kingdom of faith is now your home country. You’re no longer strangers or outsiders. You belong here, with as much right to the name Christian as anyone. God is building a home. He’s using us all—irrespective of how we got here—in what he is building. He used the apostles and prophets for the foundation. Now he’s using you, fitting you in brick by brick, stone by stone, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone that holds all the parts together. We see it taking shape day after day—a holy temple built by God, all of us built into it, a temple in which God is quite at home. Ephesians 2:19-22
I am excited to see what all God has planned for my newly-wedded cousins' life! During my time with them I joyed in seeing the bride proudly proclaim her marriage anytime she had the opportunity! Don't be afraid/ashamed to share with the world your marriage with Jesus, the most beautiful treasure you have in your heart. A great way to witness to people is to tell them about your wedding to the Lord. What a beautiful way to share your salvation story!
