Happy 2017!

So I, the prisoner for the Lord, appeal to you to live a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called [that is, to live a life that exhibits godly character, moral courage, personal integrity, and mature behavior—a life that expresses gratitude to God for your salvation], with all humility [forsaking self-righteousness], and gentleness [maintaining self-control], with patience, bearing with one another [a]in [unselfish] love. Make every effort to keep the oneness of the Spirit in the bond of peace [each individual working together to make the whole successful]. There is one body [of believers] and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when called [to salvation]— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of us all who is [sovereign] over all and [working] through all and [living] in all. Ephesians 4:1-6

What have you been called to? What spiritual gifts has God given you? What natural gifts and abilities has He given you?

When you think about what you have been called to do, do you get excited and want to hit the ground running or do you never see yourself getting there? Does your calling frighten you or do you think you are too small/insignificant to be used? Well guess what, you are limiting God! It's true, we can't do it on our own strength. In self we would fail - but God!

He spreads the skies over unformed space,    hangs the earth out in empty space. He pours water into cumulus cloud-bags    and the bags don’t burst. He makes the moon wax and wane,    putting it through its phases. He draws the horizon out over the ocean,    sets a boundary between light and darkness.Thunder crashes and rumbles in the skies.    Listen! It’s God raising his voice!By his power he stills sea storms,    by his wisdom he tames sea monsters. With one breath he clears the sky,    with one finger he crushes the sea serpent. And this is only the beginning,    a mere whisper of his rule.    Whatever would we do if he really raised his voice!” Job 26:7-14

Wow, that is a mere sampling of what our God can do! If we can look at His marvelous creation and believe that His mighty hand has done it all, what makes you think He can't do a mighty work in and through you

Are you worried about what others will think? Are you worried that you will mess things up and make a fool of yourself? Place all your worries and cares in your Father's hand and follow Him. Take it one day at a time and see what all He wants to do through you. As your faith grows each day your thinking will as well. Those thoughts of what others will think or that you can't do it will fade away!

As we are walking and growing in the Lord there will be times that the enemy will try to discourage us, but that is when we look back on what God has done thus far and we gather our strength up and keep marching forward!

Once you have gotten the idea that God wants to/is using you don't limit Him on what He can and wants to do!

20 Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, 21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21

Amen to that! In this New Year expect God to do what He says He will do and greater! Don't limit God :)
