“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9
I don't know about anyone else, but I am tired of seeing so many people look the other way and not do the right thing! Most of these people I see are Christians and that makes it even sadder.
Doing what is right is not always easy, especially when it involves some one you love. I recently had the experience of almost losing a friendship because I was going to bring the authorities into a certain situation. My friend was mad at me, and some of what she said hurt, but I pushed that aside. I cared about who I was trying to protect and also what God considers the right thing to do.
In the end I didn't have to get the authorities involved and the situation changed for the better. We don't talk anymore, and even if I don't see her again I love her.
One of the most important things I learned through this experience is how to leave people at God's feet. After talking with my friend one night it seemed like things would still remain the same in the situation and I was upset! I was siting in the parking lot at the grocery store and I prayed asking God for what to do. He told me to give it to Him, so I held my hands out and gave everyone involved over to God. I told Him to move and that I was expecting to see the answers quickly. A wonderful peace came upon me and I was able to smile! I called my friend and left her a message saying I gave the whole situation to God and I knew He would work quickly. The next day I was told that something big happened that needed to happen. Praise be to God!
Sometimes doing the right thing is not the most popular choice; however, we have to ask ourselves What Would Jesus Do? Would He stand by and watch people get hurt? Would He pretend He didn't hear that conversation that just took place? Would He not call the appropriate authorities on that family member/friend when it is obvious someone is being harmed? When we care about what other people think more than what our Abba Father thinks that is dangerous! Here's a helpful verse all of God's children should keep in their hearts:
“So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.” James 4:17
We will all have to stand before Jesus one day and He will judge us on our actions. Yes, we can still get into heaven even though we didn't do what was right at a certain point in our lives, but what will God say? Will He tell us we had the power in our hands to get the right thing done? Will He tell us that greater harm happened to someone and it could have been avoided? Will He tell us that someone was watching us and they chose to reject God because one of His children didn't "practice what they preach?" I pray that is not the case for you or me! I pray that when I stand before Jesus that I was able to do all I could for those around me during my days on this side of glory.
Dear one, if you need to do the right thing I am encouraging you to do it. If you know something needs to be done but aren't sure what to do, ask God and expect His answer. After all, "Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who keeps on asking receives, and he who keeps on seeking finds, and to him who keeps on knocking, it will be opened." Matthew 7:7-8
God will answer and He will move, we just need to be willing vessels to do His will. Let's make Abba Father proud and just do what is right!
