"Everyone thinks I'm over-dramatic when I'm upset...but when an octopus gets stressed out it eats itself. Now that's over-dramatic!"
Have you seen this quote before? I remember a time when it seemed everyone was saying and sharing this quote. Every time I see this I go, "Wow, those poor octopus!" When I came across this again yesterday I wondered, "Do they really do that?"
I took to the internet and read through many articles and found that it's not entirely true! Yes, they will eat themselves but it's not because they are stressed or bored. It is because of a virus!
Just like the octopus there is a virus we all battle with as well: sin. No matter how long you have been a Christian no one is perfect (Ecclesiastes 7:20). The temptation to sin is something we have to deal with until we go home to glory/heaven, but the beautiful thing is we don't have to fight it alone because Jesus has already won the victory! We are to continue in the fight against temptation holding onto His strength until we join Him in the winner's circle. 1 Timothy 6:12
Abba Father tells us what to do when sin/temptation comes knocking at our door:
No temptation [regardless of its source] has overtaken or enticed you that is not common to human experience [nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance]; but God is faithful [to His word—He is compassionate and trustworthy], and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability [to resist], but along with the temptation He [has in the past and is now and] will [always] provide the way out as well, so that you will be able to endure it [without yielding, and will overcome temptation with joy]. 1 Corinthians 10:13
Did you see that; God always provides a way out!
I have seen too many of my dear brothers and sisters stay bound in worry and it breaks my heart! I know what worry is because I used to be there. Over analyzing each situation thinking of what could happen. I learned to cast my cares upon God, leave it there and not keep thinking about it. That last part is the hard part isn't it? Here is where your discipline kicks in.
Use your sword, the Word of God, to speak against the enemy trying to keep you in what you got delivered from! Have a list of Bible verses handy to speak your way out of your temptation/attack and watch God come to your aid. Call up a friend that will pray with you if it is too much for you at the time, and as you get stronger you will be able to brush off those attacks with just you and the Holy Spirit. :)
I pray that if you are bound in some way and haven't received your deliverance yet that you will be freed in Jesus' name! If you have been delivered I encourage you to walk in discipline.

Discipline: activity, exercise, or a regimen that develops or improves a skill; training:When someone prays for you or you pray for deliverance yourself, and you get delivered, it happens. You don't have to keep asking God to deliver you again and again. If you are still struggling after being delivered it's not that it has come back upon you, but that you have to walk differently; walk in discipline. I don't mean punishing yourself for when you stumble, but change the way you think and act when the enemy tries to get you to go back.
