29 Take My yoke upon you and
learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and
humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for
your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy [to bear] and
My burden is light.” Matthew 11:29-30
I have been feeling overwhelmed! While sewing for a dear friend, doing something I love for someone I love, I felt as though I could never finish my task! I wondered, "Why do I feel this way? This is an easy task!" Well, it's because I took on more than I have time to do without being burdened.
I was doing a good thing helping out a friend. I wasn't being selfish or anything! But it was too much for me with the other assignments God has placed in my hand(s).
When you feel like there is too much on your plate and something is going to come crashing down, maybe you should take a look and see what's piled on your plate. How much of it is busy work that you don't need to do? If we take on too much then we can get distracted from doing what we are supposed to be doing, or only giving a little bit to what we are supposed to be doing when we should have given it our all!
Commit your works to the Lord [submit and trust them
to Him],
And your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance]. Psalm 16:3
And your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance]. Psalm 16:3
If your plate is about to spill over take some quiet time with the Lord and find out what it is that you should be doing - removing those things that are just busy work not assigned to you. After I realized that I was getting distracted I told the Lord I was sorry and I am shifting my focus back to where it needs to be. I am thankful for God's grace, that He got my attention and that His love knows no end!
