It was more than just a walk in the garden!

I took a walk in the backyard gazing at the garden, the trees and the birds soaring on wind. I was enjoying the wind cooling me off from the Texas heat, and as I looked around at God's creation I found myself yearning for something.

The first thing I noticed was a Mississippi Kite soaring on the breeze having fun. I said, "Lord, I want to soar high on wings like eagles and have fun with You!"

Then I noticed the pear tree beside me. It was full of leaves and tiny little pears. The leaves were so green! I said, "Lord, I want to be a vibrant green and bear much fruit for You!"

Next, I took a look at the oak tree and how the branches were full of leaves. I said, "Lord, I want to be full of You!"

I took a few steps and came across a grouping of Hen and Chicks plants. I love the way they look! I said, "Lord, I long to be over the children You have promised me and mother them!"

I looked at my mom's watermelon vines spilling over their container and running across the patio. I said, "Lord, I want my cup to spill over full of You!"

I walked to the other side of the yard and saw the tree in the corner and how much shade it was giving. I said, "Lord, I want to be a place of shade and refuge for others!"

I saw my mom's grass plant, how bushy and tall it stands from being well watered. I said, "Lord, I want to thrive in You!"

Finally, as the sun began to set farther in the sky these bright pink flowers caught my eye because they were so bright compared to what was around them! And I said, "Lord, I want to shine bright for You!"

As all of creation around me was singing its praises to God, so was I! This yearning for more of my Abba Father is not in vain. It is a sign that He is preparing me to receive what He wants to give me. Preparing me to walk in yet more of my calling. I had an awesome time in the backyard last evening! It didn't take much to remind me of how great God is and that I should look forward to the next chapter in my book.

Take time to pause, look around you and see how your Abba Father is speaking to you in the whisper of the breeze, the flutter of a butterfly's flight or the beauty of a single flower.

Be blessed, beloveds!
