| My view of sunrise. The lighting looks better in person ! |
A new season always inspires me to make changes in my life. I usually don't mind change; however, there are times change isn't so easy for me.
Take for instance, I have changed my sleep schedule. I try to be in bed by 11 PM and I wake up at 7 AM. This is something I had been meaning to change for a loooong time, but I never wanted to so I just pushed it aside. I had asked Abba Father to help me wake up early, and one day it hit me that I really enjoy sunrises. So I googled when the sun comes up, apparently 7:18 here, and I get up and I am encouraged by it! So far I have been doing this for at least 2 weeks my body is getting used to it. I also have more time to get things done in the morning and that has been nice! Lastly, I am able to meet with friends for coffee/breakfast dates more easily and that has been a huge blessing. Having time with friends is great, add coffee and that is even better!
Then there is Bible study. I usually get into the word once a week, to get ready for my Sunday school lesson or a blog, but I have always wanted to crave getting into the Word daily. I had been asking Abba Father to give me a greater desire for His word and one day I opened my Sunday school book and as I read about Moses I had a question about Abraham, so I went back to Genesis and started reading. I started from the time God called Abram to leave his family (Genesis 12) to when his named got changed to Abraham (Genesis 17) all the way to the end of Genesis (Genesis 50). I had such a good time studying the Word - being reminded of the Bible testimonies I came across, noticing passages that I had not noticed before and seeing how all the different peoples' lives in Genesis to Exodus fit together.
Besides asking Abba Father to give me a desire for his Word, another thing that is helping me is that I have a set Bible study time. I am a nanny, so I use nap time as my study time. Eventually I would like to make my study time in the mornings and I will get there one day. Right now this works great for me!
These two changes have been important to me and have been another testimony of how when I ask my Father for help, He helps me! I have another testimony of how God has been helping me but I will have to dedicate that to another blog; there is a lot of good stuff to it!
Whatever changes you have been trying to make and they haven't happened for whatever reasons, don't give up! If you have asked God to help you and nothing has changed, keep asking. If you haven't asked God to help you, then ask! Don't forget that we can't just ask God for help and push everything on Him, there will be things that we have to do as well. Like, I had to find out when our sunrise is and set my alarm. I had to break open a study book and then God took over from there making me hungry for the Word without me even realizing what had happened!
I pray that a new season, my testimonies and what you want/need to change encourages you and motivates you to start today on what changes in your life today. (:
7 “[c]Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who keeps on asking receives, and he who keeps on seeking finds, and to him who keeps on knocking, it will be opened. 9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will [instead] give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will [instead] give him a snake? 11 If you then, evil (sinful by nature) as you are, know how to give good and advantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give what is good and advantageous to those who keep on asking Him.Matthew 7:7-12
