Why are you crying?

I have the privilege of being a nanny for a 2 1/2 year old. Little D is a cutie and he makes me laugh all day long! Even on his good days there are times he starts crying and I ask him why?

Earlier this week he woke up super early and then wouldn't take a nap later, so he was VERY cranky! Even though he was given everything he asked for that day he would still cry and whine because he wasn't getting things his way fast enough. He really wanted a cupcake so Little D, his dad and I got in the car. His dad told Little D he was going to get his cupcake, but there were a couple of important stops that had to take place first. Every time the car stopped at a place that was not the cake store the whining and  tears would start! Little D's dad reassured him that we were going to get the cupcake, and even when the cake store was our next stop he was still fussy! His dad's words did not comfort him. After a while it got annoying and frustrating to me that he just wasn't getting it even though we were driving to the cake store! Then a thought stuck me; is that how we look when we are waiting on God at times? When He has said what we desire is coming or we are waiting on a promise He gave us, but the wait is hard and we start to complain?

Man oh man, that thought made me feel small! I know when you accept the Lord you are His child, but I don't want to be a whiny, fussy, impatient 2 1/2 year old with Abba Father!

When God says He is doing something or is going to do something then He IS! Yes, the waiting can be hard and we can be waiting longer than we thought it was supposed to take, but when God who made the universe and perfected every detail says He is doing/going to do something we can take Him at His word!

Let us go to God's word and see what He has to say on this subject:

God is not a man;
    he will not lie.
God is not a human being;
    his decisions will not change.
If he says he will do something,
    then he will do it.
If he makes a promise,
    then he will do what he promised.
Numbers 23:19

There you have it folks! In just one verse, from one chapter, in one book in the Bible it spells it out for us! I looked up other verses on God and His promises and listed just a few at the end of the blog so you can look them up with your own Sword-Bible and find more encouragement!

So, my dear beloveds, hold fast to the promises of God; what He has promised in His word and what He has spoken to you. From now on when I start to complain, get impatient or think a promise will never happen I will remember this lesson from 2 1/2 year old Little D. I will remind myself that my Abba Father has spoken and He will do what He has promised! I just need to calm down and trust the one who is driving.

Be blessed y'all!
