How do you approach the throne?

Let us use our imagination for bit, shall we!

Imagine you are riding in a horse drawn carriage and you come to a hill. Once you get to the top you see the most magnificent castle you have ever seen!
The draw bridge is let down and you drive through the ornate gates. Two smartly dressed footmen open the huge wooden doors and motion you to go inside. Once you step inside you have to squint your eyes because the sunlight that comes through the tall windows reflects off the marble floors! All along the hallway the windows show you the vast country side and at the end of this marble hallway is the biggest and grandest throne you have ever seen!
Attendants, servants and citizens line either side of the enormous gold throne. Sitting on the throne is the King, with a confident look in his eyes and love in his smile. He extends His hand to you asking you to come near.
Now, which one of the following examples are you?

Are you example 1 who goes up to the King and without taking His hand or saying hello start listing off complaints? Do you list off all the things you desire and suggest the time it should happen? Do you remind Him that He is a good Father and King and that He should be pouring out His blessings and riches upon you His child? Do you tell Him that you will see him later (later could be many days) and turn and leave without even a smile?

Are you example 2 who walks over with your legs shaking like Jell-O? Are you afraid to make eye contact or look up because you feel unworthy? Are you afraid to take His hand because yours is dirty? Are you afraid that at any second He will command his guards to chain you up and drag you away? Then, when you finally speak, is it only a whisper, for if you were to speak any louder it would sound as if you believed your request would be granted? When your visit is over do you leave as quietly as you came on the same shaky legs looking around you? Do you wonder how you were even let in this grand place, and a good amount of time passes before you muster up the courage to come again?

Or are you example 3 who runs into the open embrace of the King's arms! Do you smile as you look into the eyes which have seen you grow and has your life planned out? Do you sit at His feet and listen to what the King sees in you? Do you allow yourself to be scooped up into His lap so you can lay your head on His chest and hear His heart beat? He would do that so yours too will beat with the same rhythm! If He shows you the blemishes and tears in your royal clothing do you let Him fix it for you? Do you know that your mighty King has the power to move and confidently tell Him your request(s) asking for His will to be done? Do you close your eyes and enjoy the quiet time together? Then, when your visit is over, do you give Him the biggest hug you can, receive His kiss on your cheek and let His "I love you" sink into your soul? Do you skip away joyfully because you know you are coming back tomorrow?

My dear, how do you approach God's throne?

Are you like example 1 demanding blessings, riches and prayers to be answered and then leave without ever hearing a word from Him? God is not an all powerful being whose sole purpose is to give you all you want and an easy life. He is our Father and wants to have a relationship with us! If you go to Him every now and then doing all the talking that is not a relationship. If you look at yourself and realize that you are missing out on having a relationship and closeness with God I pray that you quiet yourself in prayer time. That you read His word-the Bible and learn about the One who knitted you in your mother's womb.
30 “Therefore, the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I promised that your branch of the tribe of Levi[k] would always be my priests. But I will honor those who honor me, and I will despise those who think lightly of me. 1 Samuel 2:30

Or like the second example do you feel ashamed and not worthy of even being in His presence? Dear one, you don't have to think that way any longer! When you came to Jesus He cleansed you and you were made right with God.

6 We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. 7 For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. 8 And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. 9 We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. 10 When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. 11 So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.
12 Do not let sin control the way you live;[a] do not give in to sinful desires. 13 Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. 14 Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace. Romans 6:6-14

Or like in example number 3 do you realize that He has adopted you and called you His own! That God wants a relationship with you and to help you grow! He wants you to come to Him every day and tell Him your joys, pains, sorrows, and victories.

4 Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. 5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. 6 So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son.[b] 7 He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. Ephesians 1:4-7

Know that you are God's and that you can come before His throne any day or time of the week. He is waiting to hear from you and who knows what all He wants to talk about!
 Be blessed beloveds!

14 So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. 15 This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. 16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. Hebrews 4:14-16
