No more "what if"!

What if?
I'm looking forward!

Those words can be a scary trap! When I find myself thinking back on my life, maybe a picture or person brings back memories, I will often wonder "What if I had done this?" "What if I hadn't done that" "What would my life be like?" I found myself thinking these words recently and boy my mind went on a long trail of what ifs that made me feel bad.

Can I tell you that focusing on things that didn't happen or thinking about missed opportunities will bring you down! Then you can start doubting yourself and all your wishing about what could have happened in the past will make you miss what is in front of you today!
I found some awesome Bible verses that talk about this subject:

13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14

18 “Remember not the former things,
    nor consider the things of old.
19 Behold, I am doing a new thing;
    now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
    and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:18-19

62 Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62

 After thinking on "what if" for a week, God really brought this lesson home because Sunday my pastor's sermon was "Fail Forward". What a God moment! Pastor said that even though Peter went through a lot and denied Jesus 3 times Jesus still called him forth to start the Church.

After thinking about so many "what ifs" I wrote a declaration to the Lord. Beloved, I encourage you look forward not back. Let's get "what if" thinking out of our minds and look ahead saying, "Yes Lord!" Be blessed, beloveds!

I, Alissa, have this day relinquished my thoughts on the "What Ifs" that have held me bound these eight years at least. I walk forward in the plan Abba has for me and I will not be held back any longer! I grab my future in both hands, and hold my hands up high in worship to my Lord. Thank You Father, for the freedom in letting go and letting God!
Whether I fail forward or run in Your goodness I declare it will be forward and not looking back, in the name of my precious Jesus I pray, Amen.
