| My natural hair in all its fluffiness! |
hear someone talking about a length check it is someone celebrating hair growth!
I love going on YouTube and watching other lady's hair journeys and what they do to reach their hair growth goals.
I stopped putting relaxers on my hair to make it straight and I have been "natural" 10 years. Out of those 10 years I have cut my hair very short 3 times. I love how my hair looks short and that it is so easy to maintain!
I had been itching to cut my hair for at least a year now. I needed a break from dealing with my beautiful curls, and since the weather has been so cold in Central Texas I decided to blow dry and straighten my hair with a flat iron. There is a lot of work that goes into doing this! It makes no sense to straighten my hair when it is hot outside because I will sweat so much and my curls will come back the same day.
As I finished straightening the back section of my hair I couldn't believe my eyes! My hair was so much longer than I thought it was! I did a happy dance and continued on! I even said to myself "I don't mind all the work it took; this was worth it!"
When I finished I ran to my mom to show her. I said "why was I trying to cut all this hair off!"

My hair was long: however, the ends were in bad shape. I knew I needed a trim so the next day I went and got one. I had to get 1 inch or 1 1/2 inches cut off because it was all split ends and not healthy to keep them. After my trip to the salon my hair was shorter than I would have liked BUT it was healthy. I was happy I did this length check and got my hair back on track!

We go through "length checks" in our walks with the Lord as well. Let's look at James 1:2-4
2 Count it all joy, my brothers,[b] when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
I heard this quote on the radio last week and it goes along with this verse:
"Adversity doesn't challenge your faith; it exposes it"When I heard that I was like wow, how true!
Not every trial we face is from the enemy, sometimes it is God giving you a "length check" to see how much you have grown or how much more growing you need to do!
So, my brothers and sisters, no matter if your "length check" is to your expectations or not, do learn from it. See where you need to improve or celebrate in how far you have come. Whatever your "length check" tells you know that I am praying for/or rejoicing with you!
Be blessed, beloveds!
The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold,
and the Lord tests hearts.
Proverbs 17:3
