God can see what you are doing

Last week I accompanied my friend to her doctor's appointment. While sitting in the waiting room at the hospital I sat next to lots of windows and was grateful to look outside even though it was cloudy. While looking at the landscape I realized I could see the 2nd floor roof because we were on the 3rd floor. As I was looking at the roof I wondered if the workers knew people would be able to see this roof and if they did their best job. It's not that the roof looked bad. It was just a thought that popped in my mind. Immediately, after that thought I was like "whoa, that applies to everyone!"

If you are employed in the home or outside of the home and never have anyone check on work that isn't seen, do you do your best job?

Even if we think no one is going to see what kind of job we did we need to do our best! Let's look at this verse:

23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. 25 For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.
Colossians 3:23-25

Wow, For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality. I know, it is easy to "do what the job requires" and not give it your all. It is easy to do "just enough" because no one will notice or thank you. However, is this the job we want to perform for the Lord?

Here is another verse for you to ponder:

12 “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. Matthew 7:12

Would you want someone you hired doing "just enough"? Would you hire someone who does't care about the work they do? Or would you want them to do their best?

No matter how frustrated we get at work, for whatever reason, don't forget that as Christians we ultimately work for God. He provides us with jobs and homes and expects us to work as unto Him. Yes, it's a tall order, but He is our all in all, our strength and provider. Whatever our task is let us work as unto our Father and be filled with joy as we think upon His goodness towards us.

Be blessed, beloveds!
