April 3rd encouragement!

I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Psalm 34:1

Today's encouraging song is Psalm 34 sung by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. I love this song! Over the past week I have enjoyed praising the Lord with this song.

After hearing the song I went and read Psalm 34 and boy it is beautiful The first verse alone speaks volumes. "I will bless the Lord at all times." That means even in the bad times we bless the Lord. Sounds hard doesn't it? When you think about it, what better way is there to get your eyes off your situation than to bless God. To remember that He is sovereign. The definition of sovereign is:
1.
a supreme ruler, especially a monarch.
possessing supreme or ultimate power.

We don't have all the answers and we don't know what all God is up to, but we can trust Him.

As we keep reading Psalm 34 let's look at verse 15: The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry.

The only way God will look at us and see us as righteous is if we have repented of our sin and asked Him into our hearts. We ask Him to be the Lord of our lives and live to follow Him.

No matter how good of a person you think you are without God, you are not considered righteous.

When you become a child of God the righteousness He sees is the righteousness of Jesus that died  for us so we can have a relationship with God the Father. There is nothing we can do to be righteous; we are to take the gift of salvation Jesus holds out to us and walk in new life.

If you have never made God the Lord of your life now is a great time. In these difficult times we can be overwhelmed and be disappointed by so many people, but God can be right there for you!

Just like in verse 8: Taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!

Would you try God today? If you do it's not giving Him a little of yourself, you give Him everything. When you do you won't ever be the same and you can finally walk in freedom!
Be blessed, beloveds!

                                  Psalm 34

I will bless the Lord at all times;

    his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
    let the humble hear and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
    and let us exalt his name together!
sought the Lord, and he answered me

    and delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant,
    and their faces shall never be ashamed.
This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him
    and saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps
    around those who fear him, and delivers them.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!

    Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
Oh, fear the Lord, you his saints,
    for those who fear him have no lack!
10
The young lions suffer want and hunger;
    but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
11
Come, O children, listen to me;

    I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12
What man is there who desires life
    and loves many days, that he may see good?
13
Keep your tongue from evil
    and your lips from speaking deceit.
14
Turn away from evil and do good;
    seek peace and pursue it.
15
The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous

    and his ears toward their cry.
16
The face of the Lord is against those who do evil,
    to cut off the memory of them from the earth.
17
When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears
    and delivers them out of all their troubles.
18
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
    and saves the crushed in spirit.
19
Many are the afflictions of the righteous,

    but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
20
He keeps all his bones;
    not one of them is broken.
21
Affliction will slay the wicked,
    and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.
22
The Lord redeems the life of his servants;
    none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned.
