Happy Father's Day Child!

It is Father's Day. I have always enjoyed this day because I have a dad to celebrate who has always been there. I know there are many who don't have a dad at all or he slips in and out of their lives so this day can be painful.

One of the youth girls from our church shared how not having a dad has been a struggle for her. She is only a young teen but she went through depression and tough times in middle school. Oh, how my heart aches for the fatherless! I wish that she and countless others wouldn't have to go through the struggles an absent father brings.

Do you know, child, that God can be your Father? I know, it might sound cliché and is something all Christians say, but I don't know if you understand.
Even though I do have my earthly father I treasure the relationship I have with my heavenly Father! As I go deeper and deeper in my relationship with God He reveals Himself more to me. I realize just HOW loved I am. I realize just HOW much He wants for me to have good in my life. I realize just HOW precious I am to Him.

When I am going through tough, sad or disappointing times God is the first person I run to. As I get closer to God in my relationship with Him I find that I don't even have to talk my struggles out with anyone else because He is enough! I find that I am more and more content in God because He has shown Himself faithful to me. The more I rely on Him the more my trust is built up because I have found Him trustworthy.

If you want this Father who never leaves you and you aren't a Christian yet, let today be the day you invite Him into your heart and life. The Bible says,  9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” (Romans 10:9-11) So make Him the Lord of your life and walk in newness and wholeness. Embrace your Father and the joy He will pour out upon you!

If you have made Him the Lord of your life but you haven't given Him access to all your life, let today be the day that you let Him completely in. The more you put your trust in Father God the more He will show you that He is your Father and that He will keep you. I know that trusting is not always easy, especially when you have been let down before; but you will never be the same once you give all of you to God!

Let me share some of my favorite verses with you:
15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. Romans 8:15-17

That word "Abba" means Daddy in Hebrew. When you come into God's family He gives you the right to call Him Abba-Daddy! Now that is a close and intimate way to say dad. God wants you to become close and intimate with Him.

As I was writing this blog post in my mind the words "My Child" kept going through my mind and that just so happens to be a song that God gave me. It is one I wrote when I was 13! Since then the words of this song are even sweeter because I have grown spiritually in my relationship with God and I have experienced Him calling me His child! I pray that you experience Abba Father's love in a new and deep way this year. and that you will hear Him calling you His child.

Be blessed, beloveds!

My Child

verse 1
When you think you’re by yourself and you’re alone, and there’s fighting and corruption in your home. Don’t ever shed a tear for your Father is here.
You’re beautiful and gorgeous in my eyes!  No wonder you’re the apple of my eye!
You’re wonderful and special you’re My own.
Come into my arms and you will be home.

chorus
I love you my child! I’ll never leave you forsake you. Come near me my child. Cause I love you so and I’ll never let you go!

verse 2
When you look into the mirror and there’s a tear, cause you don’t look like the models and
you’re peers; don’t ever doubt there’s beauty in you about!
To take your life you would be a fool, no matter the problem in school.
Come into my arms there is love; you will find shelter from the One above.

bridge
You’re My own and I made you so specially. There is no one like you and there will
