Day 8

Today was packed with a lot of fellow shipping with others!

We started they day off by helping the church members of the church pictured above. This is also the first church we visited when we prayed for the four churches earlier in the week.
The doors for their church were not opening all the way due to the dirt floor being too high, so we helped them dig it down further with shovels, pick axes and hoes, and we shoveled the dirt out. Lots of work for sure, but we had about 25 people working on it!

There is a soccer field next door and we got to sit and watch the game cheering both teams on!

Part of the cheering squad

Our teammate Ryan (in the green jersey) was the reff and did an amazing job, and his son Phillip played on one of the teams.

Halfway through the game they players rested and and my teammate Heather presented the Gospel to everyone using the hand illustration. Before coming on this trip I had never heard of the hand illustration. It is a very neat visual!
Pastor Tim held the microphone and Jean Baptiste translated for us.

After the game we said our good-byes and packed into the bus. We ate at our trusty truck stop and I got some pictures of where it is located: Nyirangarama.

The coffee ice cream was delicious!

Next we headed off to soccer game number two! This was between teenage teams, not the kids like earlier. They are both from Base and did a great job. Teammate Ryan was reff again. Part of our team went to visit the mother of one of our friends in Rwanda.

The guys fought hard, so much so that at the end of the game it was 0-0. They had to have a kick off and the guys in the blue jerseys won! They received  a trophy, $60 dollars and a new soccerball.

The linemen got recognition and prizes as well.

The second team, the guys in the green jerseys, received $30 and a new soccer ball.

At the end Pastor Tim shared words and encouragement and presented the Gospel, to both teams and all the people in the audience.

Our team with the two teams!

We said more good-byes and piled in the bus. We had another delicious dinner at our hotel and the last debriefing of the day which was bitter sweet.

I am so looking forward to church at Pastor Salathiel's church in the morning!
